i have a friend who has an h Farmall with a 5spd trans that has 2 speeds in 1 and 2nd gear;is this rare ?when were they built and why a 7 speed trans?runs great what would it be worth, rough gestimate?

It has to have another lever if it has two speeds in 1st. M&W and Heilser made an add on attachment
for Hs and Ms giveing them 9 speeds.

(quoted from post at 05:08:56 08/05/08) no,just the regular trans lever;but has a high and low in 1st and 2nd gear
Well, if it has just the regular transmission lever - and none other - how do you shift it from high to low range in 1st and 2nd gear? mike

serial number is 286959.ownerclaims the tractor has hi 1st,low 1st,and a hi and low in 2nd then a high gear.he claims that low 1st is where 1st is,hi 1st is where 3rd normally is;low 2nd is where 2nd normally is and hi 2nd is where 4th normally is and his high gear is where 5th normally is.he says his high 1st,which is normally 3rd is slower than 2nd low which is normally 2nd.can this be a special transmission;i have never heard of it before?

its a 1948 h serial number286959.he claims that it is slower in the 3rd position than the 2nd gear position;thats why he feels that it has a low and high in 1st and 2nd gear!it has 1 gear shift with the normal 5spd gear patern, but it is slower in 3rd gear than 2nd.there is no gear patern stamped on the platform! How else could it be slower in 3rd than2nd??

it has 1 gear shift serial number 286959;a 1948 h;but the tractor runs faster in the 2nd gear slot than the 3rd gear slot.no gear shift numbers stamped on the platform.how could this be/ i have never heard of this before.

high.this h is serial number 286959,1948 h ;it has 1 gear shift with normal 5 positions but the tractor runs faster in 2nd than 3rd.there is no pgear pattern on the platform, thats why my friend claims it has 1st high-low and 2nd high-low and 3rd being high gear.i have never saw any h like this before;but it does run faster on the 2nd gear position than the 3rd gear position.how can thise?
