no brakes on the IHC 856 if i pump on the pedal fast i kinda got brakes but soon as i release , have to pump on the brakes fast again and you kinda got brakes, steering kinda jerky too, TA works, PTO works, this tractor has been sitting for 2-3 years , i started it drove it home 40 miles, had to be careful, no brakes, ive had time to day to work on tractor, only kinda got brakes , at wits end , any ideas out there,

First i would check the check valves there is one on top of the MCV where the line comes out of the MCV that JIC fitting there is a check valve there and one on the brake valve check them and make sure that they are working . Next try bleeding the brakes , this is easy with the tractor running at idle crack the bleeder on either one of the brake drums and push down on the brake pedal and hold till ya get clear fluid and close then do the other brake the same way . Now i am not sayen that this will cure your problem as like you stated the tractor has been setting ya may have to remove the MCV and rebuild it as ya may have a stuck valve . IF ya got steering and the tractor moves i do not think that your pump is total toast just yet but to know for sure ya would have to have the gauges to test . And not everybody has the propper stuff to run the complet test on the MCV pump , this is best left to the pro's

Hello,
I would try bleeding the brakes, you might have air from sitting. take a clear hose and run it to the dipstick hole run the tractor at idle crack the bleeder screw and hold the pedal down.
Good Luck Ed

Try checking the orafice on the supply line at the valve. Even a very small piece of metal or dirt will plug it.
