We need to know the year to be correct.
The reprint IH manual and IT manual are different, and both have value. THey treat many topics from different perspective and that can help with some issues. JimN

Not sure if this thread was for me JimN. But if it was, thank you for your response and it's a 1944 H, Just wanting to know where the Vr should be mounted and what manual is the best for working on the H. Thanks in advance.

If this wasn't for me I apologize.

The 44 had no VR. The light switch is used to ground the field (through a resistor on L, or direct ground on all other positions of the switch)
If you want to use one I would look at several images in the photo albums to decide whereto locate it. JimN.

iv got a 46 H is was owned by a farm that we used to help run and now i bought it to use on our farm. iv was told it never charged before and iv been trying diff. sites to find wireing diagrams to make sure everything is on where its supposed to be. i have the IH service manual and parts catalog for my H and those dont help much at all where can i find a Shop manual so i can figure it out on my own. any help Plz

Thanks Janicholson for all your help.

Just wanting to get my manual for the H and binderbooks has these 2 books

1004203 ------ Operators manual. 98 pages

&

GSS-5032 ------ Service manual, engine and chassis.

Which one is going to be most helpful in repairs?

Can't afford both right now.

I'd go with the service manual id it needs some work, and the owners if I was a newbie and it was OK. JimN
