O/T Oshkosh EEA Fly in

Just arrived back here from a 2400 mile trip from NC to Oskosh WI to visit the EEA fly in.

Up through Tenn, Ky, side trip over to Ohio, to Indiana, Illinois, MI and Wisconsin

I was pleased to find that the farmers had finally gotten their corn in the Ground and it looks like it is going to make some corn...also a lot of Soybeans out there.

Got to put my hands on a KC-135 A/C that I have not touched or been up close to since 1963--I have flown on them a lot as crew chief. Saw every aircraft imagnable. Saw F-22 work. What an airplane. my 9 year old granddaughter went with us. She has decided to go to the AF Acadamy and become a pilot :)tw

(Hey navy man....congrat on the promotion)

It has been over 15 years since I was last at Oshkosh. I recall seeing the guy flying his replica GeeBee racer....the airplane declared a death trap back in the days of the Granville Brothers. Ha! Evidently, this fellow is a lot better pilot or he knows something they didn"t back then. Seems as if the man who built and flew the replica was a farmer from the Midwest. Anyway, he turned that airplane every which way, but inside out. Terrific aircraft, phenomenal pilot. I can only assume the man and his plane continues to show up and wow the crowds.

The GeeBee's would flip end over end due to lack of tail surface. When certain speeds were reached the tail feathers would become ineffectice and the wrong movement of the stick was fatal. Some of the later models were modified with larger tails surfaces and I believe a different chord to keep the surfaces from stalling. Nuff said. Henry
