I found out today I've been selected for promotion to Chief (E-7) Maybe now I'll be able to get a little money to continue restoring my H!

Congratulations. Guess we have to call you sir now! Is that the top Non-commisioned rank or is there yet another step Are you going to paint your New rank badge on the H.MTF

I was thinking about you the other day and wondered what had happened to you. I guess you have been busy
testing and all the other stuff that it takes to make the grade.

Do we have to salute you now when you make a post?

Congratulations!!!!

congrats Mike! Just remember though, the higher you go in the tree, the thinner the branches become!
I just turned down and acting M/Sgt. spot. Yeah, its more $, but it also puts me squarely at the bottom of the seniority list... and on midnights... can't really put a price on sleeping at NIGHT and being with my family instead of TRYING TO during the day, but the raise to M/sgt wasn't gonna cut it. It isn't ALL about the $, but a goodly portion of it is!

(quoted from post at 06:55:56 08/02/08) Congradulations! Now you get to sit in the Chief's Mess all day doing nothing!! :)

Which will be a fine break from my days filled with sitting in my office doing nothing.

Way to go Chief. Someday you might make Master Chief after all.

Not a Navy man but NCO's in the Army are never referred to as sir(officers only). They(sgt's) work for a living!

Congrats Chief. You will make E-9 before you know it.

I hit the wrong button for my previous post.

Glad you took that the way I meant it. I did a few months of my mess cranking duty in the Chief's Mess, hated it. The wardroom was much better. Actually, even the scullary was better.

Man, I wish I'da stayed in now.

Fair winds and a following sea!

When I was an E-3 I did my time with First LT for my own squadron. But friends who did the other stuff said the Chief's mess was the best, better than the Wardroom. It may differ from boat to boat.

Congratulations! Best advice I can give you is don"t let the hat get too big and never forget your roots as a "White Hat".

Congratulations chief! Hard work rewarded. Remember those exams. Don't go overboard on the celebrations, or anything else. Only the Navy can say this.
