ih fast hitch plows

ok, so I just found this pic of
a set of 3 bottom fast hitch plows and it
has a wheel holding up the right hand side.
Ours does not have this. did all of them
come with this? I posted the other day
about how they wouldnt dig in when plowing.

The wheel would also be helpful when
we disconnect, because that side likes to
fall to the ground.

If I need this, what would be the best thing
to fabricate it from or does anyone have one
for sale?

I linked to the pic I found.
ih 3 bottom

I've never seen a wheel like that on a fast hitch plow. The 2 bottom fast hitch plow on my Dad's 1956 Farmall 300 does not have a wheel on it.

I have 2 fast hitch plows, a 2 bottom for my Super C and a 3 bottom for my 560D, niether has that wheel.
The plow in the photo also has a rubber tire on the back, that may explain the tire on the side.

Dadhad a plow just like that for hisa 350. The guage wheel was an option, but he made one up for his plow. I can't remember if it workesd very well or not.

Our 350U FH (3-14)plow has the wheel. It does not have a trailing wheel. THe wheel rides on unplowed ground at the depth desired to run the plow. It works well. FInding a depth wheel off of a Salvage implement, and fabricating a mount would be my take. unless a person sets the wheel on a block about 8" high it does no good in the tip over contest. JimN

well, i compared the photo with mine and it isnt the same model. Sounds like the wheel isnt necessary. I may just put a metal bar that swivels on the one side, so it doesnt tip over when we disconnect. Do you guys just let them tip over? Its not quite a fast hitch, if you need two people to hook it up.

As for digging down, it appears I need to angle the tips down more. On the 3 point, you can adjust the top point but with fast hitch I guess
the plow has to be adjusted somehow. I didnt
seee much adjustability on the plows.

I had the fasthitch 2-bottom plow for the Super C and it had no wheels on the plow and it would sit upright when disconnected from the tractor. Made hookup real easy. Plowed nice too, I should've never've sold it. Hal

That is an IH McCormick 311 plow. The depth wheel is factory. Was sold as an option only. Most do not have them. Helps compensate for the lack of a good draft control. My 311, and 211 will sit flat without anything to hold them up. They are good plows.

This is a page out of a 311 manual

Ive got a 3x24 fh plow for my 560...only has the trailing steel depth wheel...also I bent the bracket on a bottom plowing and took one from that style plows and bolted on to get it fixed...local junkyard ony seemed to have the style with the flat plate welded on top to bolt to the angle brace....everything else interchanged...
