noisey hydraulics on Farmall H

Just bought a farmall H w/ a trip bucket. Hydraulics are very noisey going up (clunky sound) & the bucket comes down VERY fast & slamms the ground. Where do I start trouble-shooting? Change fluid & go from there? Lines are all tight & not in bad shape.

Most trip loaders have oneway cylinders (meaning there is only hydrolic pressure moving the loader up). When you let the pressure off the loader moves down from the weight of the bucket. The ones I have had droped so fast they slamed the ground when I let the pressure off.
And they all made noise as they went up, but they moved up at a fair rate. You may have a week pump or a gloged hose, fitting, or something like that.

You need to put a restrictor in the line to make it come down slower - basically just a fitting with a smaller hole in it than the hose.

As for noisey, have you tried fresh 30 weight oil? Is it full?

Or, the pump could simply be worn out or have a bad bearing.
