'49 Cub oil weight?

My reprint manual "speaks" of 80 weight oil in places such as the transmission. On my N series Fords that is hydraulic fluid. Is it the same for the Cub?

Yesterday I washed the tractor and removed the air cleaner unit for cleaning. It was 104 degrees here in Central Texas so the Cub dried in the sun. The hood and gas tank came home from the repair place all cleaned and lined. It needs repainting now since he used a torch to heat the metal.

What kind of paint do people use on the engine? Will 500 degree paint stay on or is a paint able to withstand a higher temp needed?

I ordered some parts from YT.

any good 80-90 gear oil is fine for the rearend. As for the paint the same that is used for the frame and tin etc. can be used on the block, no problems. If you want to paint the manifold then stove paint works well for that area.

1) No, hydraulic oil and gear oil are not the same.

2)I just painted the engine wiuth the same thing I painted the rest of the tractor. Only part that had burned off is the manifold.
