ridiculous price

Just priced a voltage regulator for my late 50s international cub lo boy that has been converted to 12 volt at the local store-- 68 bucks seems real unreal to me-- is there a cheaper alternative?

$68 is high, but whatever you do, make sure you find an AMERICAN made regulator. A local repair shop owner, who is quite reputable and good friend of mine, told me that there are many inexpensive regulators made in India, Pakistan, and several other countries. In an effort to be competitive and keep prices low, he tried some. He said he had nearly half of them come back as defective. He warranteed all of them but could not get warranteed from his supplier. He won't buy anything but US made parts, and has few problems with them. Just for your thoughts.

Take the alt info to a auto zone or some other discount place. What do you care about the mfg as long as it works.

In the late 70"s I used to buy regulators for small trainer airplanes at K-Mart (but dont tell anyone)

Listen to sargent bull! The local I.H dealer had the same problem.

I also had the same talk from the shop that rebuilds starters near by.

Sounds like the imports stuff is "crap" .

Matt,
As the old Fram commercial uses to say, pay me now or pay me later. If you can find a cheaper regulator, you will get that, cheap. I used to try to find cheap parts for use in my shop, was that a mistke, especially on electrical products. You can buy one now for 68.00, then expect good, long service out of it, or buy a cheapie, then replace every couple years. That $68.00 can be considered cheap if the low priced one don't hold up.
