560d high speed flutter

I have noticed on my 560 Diesel that at full throttle it has a little bit of a flutter to it. It is not extremely bad, but it is noticable that it is there. Usually it does it under less of a load. If the throttle is backed off a bit it goes away and runs smooth, say at around 3/4 throttle. Any idea where I should start looking? Is the governor "hunting"? I am new to this tractor and am not as familiar with these engines as I am with the old H and M.

Thanks

Your governor bushing is getting worn out letting the shaft rock causing the governor to hunt od surge. It will need a rebuild and there is a chance that it could run away rpms wise with its self if not fixed soon.

Thats what I was kind of thinking. Is that something external of the innerworkings of the pump that can be taken apart and fixed in house? Or is that a part of the pump inside that needs a clean room environment to be rebuilt?

Thanks for the help.

Someone advanced the timing a degree or two to make it easier starting in cold weather.

Back it up just a touch and it'll straighten right out.

Those 282 diesels start sooooo sweet in the winter if the timing is changed by 1 degree.

However, come springtime, you'll notice a flutter and a tad of grey smoke at wide open throttle.

Ya always gotta set 'em back for summer work.

I just plug my old girl in and she starts sweet as pie in the winter... Guess a block heater is cheatin though...
