Mag to Dist. conversion

I am changing my mag to a dist. on my w-6. Just to make sure for this process I will need a dist. with coil, new kill switch, and new plug wires? Is that all that i will need? Also, does anyone have a distrubtor for sale?

Thanks Matt

You dont need to change the plug wires. You should be able to find a dist at a salvage yd i would go with the I-H dist. The DELCO-REMY sits vertical. If you have the live hy pump then you need the upright so it will clear the oil filter.

You will need an ignition switch so you can feed battery voltage to the coil and distributor. Voltage needs to be fed to the switch too. Whenever you decide to change you need to note where the rotor is pointing on the mag before you pull it and then DON'T move the engine. Turn the rotor on the distributor to where the mag's rotor was pointing. It would better to make a little sketch where the mag's rotor is pointing so you don't forget. Hal

Is the mag working?? If so, why do you want to change it. If not working, folks that rebuilt the mags will be interested in it. It might be cheaper to have you mag rebuilt rather than replace it with a distributor.
