H Hood not lining up right

My 1943 H needed a small amnt of TLC. The hood never lined up right. It seems too short. So as I freshened up some paint, new hoses and had the radiator off along with the gas tank...I thought I"d fix the allignment issue. Seems to be just the same as before. So, do I try and pull the nose/radiator back or gas tank forward or both? I tank didn"t seem to have any free-play to use.

Ideas?

Pull the nose in just a bit. Do not cause it to be angled looking. Maybe just 1/2" at most. The fit is not intended to be the type to measure with a caliper. When new, the fit was made to accommodate variability and still not fall in on the engine. JimN

if after moving the radiator back and the fuel tank forward and you still dont have enough, you can try and loosen the frame rails up from the front bolster (support the tractor below the clutch housing to take the weight off the front end) and see if you can get the bolster back a little more, there is just a little wiggle room there, could be the bolster is tipped forward just a hair, this would cause the top gaps to be off also.

You could try adjusting the rod that runs from the radiator to the instrument panel. By adjusting the rod you can move the radiator in or out and should make the grill fit a little better.

You may want to replace the radiator and fuel tank mounting pads. You can adjust the radiator by changing the setting on the radiator support rod. If your hood latches don't fit right, bend the mounting tabs on the tractor that the hood latches go into.
