Well yesterday I was working on my Hydraulics on my Super C. I changed the oil seal on the top on the auxiliary control valve. Last time I messed up the seal, this time I got it right. I started to look over the hydraulic cylinder on the FH I had JUST rebuilt. I saw a leak! I thought it might be the hoses so I pulled them off and replaced them.
First thing that went bad. The small screws that hold the spool valve broke off. After that I got the hoses and put them on. I had the same leak. This time when I got to looking at it I found out I had over tightened the hose end and the head of the cylinder had a crack in it.
I took it apart and soldered it. I put it back on and it was still leaking. I took it back off and hit it again with solder. This time I it closer to the hole. I put a ¼ nipple in the hole while I was soldering it. I almost got it stuck but I did get it out. I got it on about 10:30 last night and tried it. Well I got the hoses backwards, but I think the leak is stopped. If it does it again I think I am going to put a short pipe nipple in it and solder it in.
Have any of you ever had that happen? How did you fix it and did it hold? Thanks Ron
