Well today I rebuilt my Hydraulic cylinder on my 1953 Super C. I have been worried about getting it right. I have not been having good luck with seals on this tractor. It seems like every time I try to put one in I screw up the seal.
I took the cylinder apart and found that it is all O-rings. Even a guy like me can do it. Well I got everything apart and ( I cleaned it good George) and I put a little bit of grease on the O-rings to help get the parts together.
Well everything went together perfect except the dust seal. Like always I screwed it up. I got it to go in the head fine but the thing was so tight on the shaft it pulled back out when I raised and lowered the lift. I didn't want to take it apart again so I put a little silicone on the seal retainer and pushed it back into the head. I hope that it stays in place now. Since it is just a dust seal it doesn’t have any pressure on it.
Well the lift works perfect and I want to thank you guys for giving me the confidence to rebuild the Hydraulics my self THANKS. Ron
