I think I need help, I came home last month with a 1951 M, I,m not sure why. I only a 1.5 acre lot, I never had a tractor before, dont know anything about them. Well today I came home with a bunch of used parts for the M, and then went to the computer and looked at pictures of M,s for over 2 HRs. Any idea what this ailment is?

An M is similar to an antique samurai sword. Having one at hand is a feeling of power and control. They have specialty uses, and are not good for small tasks. They are impressive to others, demand little, and decorate the surroundings with a strong presence. One does not take them to a PTA meeting.
H Farmalls are more like a Utility Knife. Dainty and sleek. They are able to do smaller work, fast and easily. Often getting into places the M would not consider. JimN

Bob,

Welcome to my world. Picked up a '45 M with a loader 2 weeks ago. got it running and can't stop looking or thinking about it. I too only have a 1 acre lot and this is my first tractor too. I have looked at all 600+ M pictures on this very site!!!! couldn't sleep right until middle of this week.

Oh well, My price was right, 300 for the thing. Way bigger than I wanted and will ever need here, but we'll never get rid of it if we can! Was my father in laws.

Welcome to the club.

You've got a whole acre and a half, and you have only one tractor? I've got an just under two acres, and two Hs are in constant use, with 3 more tractors in the shed just in case.

Thanks guys, sounds like I'm in for a rough time with this Tractoritis, it doesn't itch too bad though. There is a military and tractor show in Iola Wi. in Aug., I've already told everybody not to bother me that week end.
I'm still not sure how I caught this bug, maybe the color (the devil made me do it?)

OK Jim, I agree with all you've said except the PTA meeting thing. Doesn't everyone drive at least one of their Farmalls to the PTA meetings? Heck that's how I convinced the wife I needed a second tractor because it wasn't safe to ride her on the drawbar of the F12 to these meetings. Gee whiz now I feel like an outcast.

I often get the inquiry--"What are you going to do with these tractors" and the response is, "Well, when finished, I just pull it over in the corner and get another one so she (my wife)(bless her tender heart) will ahve something to sell at the estate sale."

:)

I only have an acre with 9 tractors once you catch the bug there is no stopping it because next you will want implements I know because I also have 2 plows, disc, 2 wagons, and I'm getting a corn planter. The only threat to the ailment is the WIFE be prepared when you get the next one!

I attended my first antique farm show yesterday. Now I have the urge for a an old cub. I've always wanted a newer lowboy but after seeing an actual cub I need one! Don't know what it's good for but who cares right?
