Super MD engine

Is there any reason why an engine from a super md would not bolt right into a WD-6 frame? Also, the the heads on a super md the same or different from a straight md head?
Thanks

The heads are all the same from the MD to the 400D at least maybe the 450D was even the same. I think they just have different casting numbers.
The motor mounts are different for a WD6 than a MD but with some creativity it should fit.

are the engines on a md and a wd-6 actually cast different? I need a wd-6 block and which is much harder to find then an md block.

The engines on a Farmall H and a W-4 are the same. The front mounts are different, the H has two blocks attached to the sides of the engine near the front which bolt to the frame rails whereas the W-4 has a mount that fits on the front of the engine behind the fan drive pulley and which, in turn, is bolted to the bottom of the front frame casting.

The blocks are the same. It is the front engine cover that is different, but the WD-6 engine cover will exchange with the MD front cover.

The rear plate behind flywheel needs changed to WD6 plate. If you have the complete SMD engine there"s no need to change front cover. Row crop front engine support needs to be swapped to WD6 one. WD6 and MD used more than one type bolt pattern for the magneto drive and could be the same Pattern as some SMD or not the same. Doesn"t matter as long as you get one on SMD engine. IH made over a half dozen heads for D248,D264 and D281 engines with slight changes, most if not all can be interchanged if correct head gasket is used.
