About how long will an H or an M run on just the battery with no charging system? Not using any lights or any thing else except the firing system.

I'll be first to guess.

When I helped with the daughters friends, stock car they used no alt.

They could run on the track for an easy 30 minutes on one battery charge. They never did have the battery go down and they would stop and start the thing about 3 or 4 times a nite.

So on a H or M I would think you could go for 5 or 6 hours.

It will last a pretty long time, even with electric start. several of our tractors won't charge any more, and we just charge up the batteries once in a while. this even goes for ones that are used almost daily.
 
It depends on the amphour capacity of the battery. You can figure it out by how much it discharges on the ampmeter when running.
 
Had several old cars with this problem. Usually drove all day and maybe another half day. No lights or radio. Really depends on batt and when you find out not charging. Cub with mag lasts two or three weeks.
 
I'm sticking my neck out here but I think without starting or lights a H or M would run eight hours or more on a fully charged battery. David.......
 
Gordo - If you begin with a correctly sized, fully charged battery, then use the starter only once or twice per 10 hour shift, and by leaving the lights off, I've had run M's as long as 25 - 30 hours on a single charge.
 
Fully charged battery, continuous running with battery igntion, not starting and stopping a lot, I would guess close to 6-7 hours.
