I am still trying to figure the exact model tractor that I have. It was too good to pass up so had to buy it. Have a general idea that it may be a 2400 or 2500 series. Would like to know for sure if possible. No plate on machine, but found a number on engine which is 157CT2U004534. Any info. would be appreciated. Don't know if I should keep the tractor or not. It just kind of followed me home. Thanks in advance, Allan.

You can look in the parts catalog at www.caseih.com for a 2400 and 2500 and see if it looks right or not. You can also post a picture here and probably someone can identify that you've got.

The tractor is an International. It is yellow and has a loader and backhoe on it, probably made in the 60's. It also has a cab and the gas tank is part of the cab.(Cab and backhoe not on at this time.) I have looked at just about every CaseIH parts catalog on their site and nothing quite matches. Of course the reason for knowing the model is to get parts from the dealer and the local ones here can't help me to ID the machine either. The picture is a good idea. Maybe close is all I will ever get! Thanks again, Allan.

IH didn't make things easy in their industrial tractors for this era. You have eight possible combinations of the models (2400 and 2500), Series (A and B), and North America and European versions. It would also help narrow things down if you could find the engine type, which should be cast somewhere on the block. For example, the NA edition of the 2400 series A has either a C-157 gas or D-179 diesel.

An International industrial with 157 cu. in. 4 cyl. gas engine would be a 2400. As you probably know, that compares to the 454 ag tractor. The model 2500 4 cyl. gas has 200 cu. in. and compares to the 574 ag tractor.

Of course the reason for knowing the model is to get parts from the dealer and the local ones here can't help me to ID the machine either.

Any good Case/IH dealer should be able to break down the number you have.
