What serial # was the first diesel made?

I bought a 450 diesel, serial #1028. The serial # of the first 450 made is 501, thus mine is the 527 450 made.Is there any why to find out how many, if any diesels were made before mine? Red power mag. from july-aug. 2006 list seriel#2589 in there search for lowest # for 450 diesel. Thanks for any info.

2007 Red power showes the Same # as you for earliest reported. Lots of people don't report though. Example,I owned 450 D serial # 1478-S at one time. Number 585 was made in november of 56, not sure if it was the first diesel though.

All together there were almost 7,000 diesels built. My 450 D is #3275 i believe or pretty close to that number. According to the date codes on mine it came out in early 1957 because it has december 1956 castings and january 1957 castings. I believe they started producing them in early 1956 so to have a 4 digit serial number and have a later 1956 model, they must have made very few diesels from the start. Thanks

The first 450 Diesel Farmall built is SN # 585.

Hey Ken, do you know the # for the last one? I just traded a nice one off that was about 90? units from the end of production.

Forgive this tiny tidbit but if tractor 1 is ser. 501, I believe tractor 528 would be ser. 1028.

What serial # was the first diesel made?
