I have been running my 1066 with a 660 New Holland baler. It has a 1000 rpm shaft. Sometimes it will have a rattle or chatter coming from under the floor or just behind the oil pan. Only happens when the pto is on. Seems worse when pto is not under a load or wen its turnning. Don't have any slippage. I thought it maybe the steel rolls from the baler making the noise at first, but no. I did not notice when I had it hooked to the discbine, but its the 540 shaft.
Thanks,

So split the tractor and check the splines and pressure plate? How long do you tin it will last like this and how bad will it screw other stuff up if I keepdriving it?

I wouldn"t go to all that trouble about the pressure plate first! There is a stack, 7 if I recall, of pressure plates for the PTO. If those plates are worn they become loose and can make the same noise. When engaging the PTO does it take a while to engage? It should be nearly instantaneous. Do you have to "rev" the tractor to get it to engage? I would check the PTO clutch pack before I split the tractor!!
