hey after many years and alot of help my grand father 1940 farmall A is running. Are the rims silver that year ? looking to convert it over from crank start. looking for used battery box starter ,generator and brackets. thank you tom

Rims were galvanized.

Before you get too deep into a starter if your serial # is 18282 or more your flywheel should accept a ringear for a starter. You need to look in the bottom inspection hold and see if the grouve is there for a ringear as you mite have to change it. Does your bell housing have a place for a starter also as it should if its a 1940 model.I have most of the parts needed.

All letter and number series rims, that were separate from the wheel were galvanized until at least the late 50's, possibly later than that.
