Converting a Tricycle 504 to Wide Front

The 1962 504 I own is tricycle type and wondering what tooling is required to convert, since it tends to pack with mud, not very stable, and not so good on ice. This tractor has the larger hydraulic pump, and would easily support power steering and second hydraulic circuit.

I think you should be able to reverse the front wheels. This will give a much wider spacing between the wheels and greatly reduce the problem with mud packing up. If you really want a wide front, we can get you a brand new Schwartz.

Why just not put on a front wheel mud cleaner they just clamp on the pedestal and work great. After having the narrow front you mite not like they way the wide front turns as it will not turn as short or a quick. Just cant beat a narrow front for quick and sharp turning.

My converted F504D takes about 7 turns lock-to-lock. The slowest turning ratio I have ever seen on a tractor. It will wear on you cutting hay or bush-hogging. A spinner knob is a must even with power steering. Though the turning radius is not too bad, in an open field

Good luck,

Charles
