oil fill breather cap????

I brought a Farmall A not to long ago. It needs a few bits being in new zealand i get parts off this site. When i got tractor home it had no engine fill breather cap (i thinks thats what it is called). So my problem is i fround two diffrent types one with a clip and one with out what one do i need for a 1944 Farmall A??

any help is very appreciated!!!

Unless you are trying to get it restored to factory specs it doesn't really matter. I would take the one that fits the best. I would make sure that it is clean by running it through some engine cleaner solvent or something like that. There is a mesh screen/element up in there. After 50 years there can be a lot of dirt and stuff in there.

I don't have a picture to help you. If you go to the CaseIH web site and look in the on-line parts catalog, you can see a pretty accurate drawing of what the original looks like. Go to the Farmall A parts then look at the figure of the cylinder head and rocker arm cover.

The original style had the mesh in the center tube. A later replacement version was about the same as the upper portion of the original (above the seam). There was no central tube and there was a clip inside at the top to hold it on. The mesh was around the outside.
