Not really. It'll run all day long on 5-7 gallons pulling those hay rakes at half to 2/3 throttle.

'Spose if I had it loaded up, it would be a different story.

4th. It's got kind of a "quick" fouth gear. Only time it hits the governor is when I pull up that grade.

gotta love them front tires !! kinda amazing when ya think about it, that ol girl is over 50 years old, and can still put in a days work just like when she came off the assembly line. wish they still built em like that!

Good looking pics but we need some pictures of YOU actually doing work. For all we know there may be gnomes out there running your place ;)

Dear Allan,
That is agreat looking M. I would love to be there and make a few rounds with it. They have such a soothing exhaust sound when running properly. I wish you would turn that air cleaner around with the jar to the back like they were on the show room. I even have an owners manual with the jar in the back. Thanks for the great pictures.

Thanks for the tip about the air cleaner jar. I have one on my W4 and I've never known which direction was correct. I guess you really do learn something new every day.

I was really racing the sun on this patch. It rained last night and I couldn't start until around 11am.

Just as soon as I got it raked, jumped on the baler, put 'er up in 1st and baled it in a hurry before it then got too darned dry.

Don't think I lost a leaf except those few last bales while I was tying 'em off.

Tomorrow, we start all over again on another 50 acre field.

This is the first time I have seen the double hookup in the rear. In the south, the fields are so small, you never see this arrangement.

For an M to run right they gotta be a little thirsty. Had a Ford800 before the SM. It liked its gaso too on a good load.

Be careful out there Allan

Yes Sir,

They work nice on the bigger fields. I really like the way they can keep the baler "full" by pulling a wide swath in together.

When my one rake broke down, I had to use just a single. Seemed like that darned thing took forever to cover a field. :>(

Nice looking M there. I like the new rubber in front, but it must pull hard going uphill all the time  I have been tempted to get an M but I think I am going to upgrade to a 06, 66 or 86 series 6 cylinder. By the way, it that a 986 with the cab? Is the cab factory IH?

Keep posting pics, I have the 1586? pulling the drill/seeder as my background.
