Distillate instead of Gas??

Here's a thought....with gas prices being so high, would it be feasable to start running my H on distillate again? Since I know very little about distillate, I would have to find out what exactly constitutes ditillate? I heard it is basically any kind of junk that you can find that burns. Has anyone else thought of doing this?

To run on kerosene (as noted distillate doesn't exist anymore), you have to have the correct engine with the gas starting tank and shutters. It won't start on kerosene, and you will not save any money.

Here in UK In place of distillate I am successfully using a mixture as follows 4 1/2 gallons house heating oil 1/2 gallon gas plus about 1/4 pint 2stroke oil. There are several variations on this (and arguments). MTF

As others point out, all fuels are about the same cost per unit volume if petro based. An engine designed to run on gasoline will be a non starter on other heavier oils. The worst case is dammage to the internals, and less efficiency.
Distillate was residuals from processing gasoline from crude when catylitic cracking was not available. It was not a intentional mix as much as a leftover. That made it cheap.
Now we use high technology materials to get the last ml. out of a barrel. Bio fuels (ethanol based), up to about 25 or 30% with richening adjustment to the jets, can be operational.
