10SI alternator

What vehicles were equipped with a 10si alt? Im trying to find a new one but i need a vehicle to go by. Does anybody have any ideas? Thanks

Nearly all GM cars/light trucks built between about 1975 and the late 80's used the 10SI. (If you need a specific vehicle ask for an alternator for a 1980 Chevy Citation...that's what my first 10SI conversion was salvaged from.)

Note: GM vehicles with "high output" alternators use thed 12SI or 15SI. These are physically larger than the 10SI but are wired up the same.

1980 Chev half ton pick up. Buy one that has no power any thing and you can get one for under $50. I always get the ones with a life time warranty on them so when they go bad it cost nothing to replace it again

Yes - a 10SI can fit under the hood of an H but it's a VERY TIGHT squeeze! And since there's no room left to swing the alternator you'll need provide a separate adjustable belt tensioner pulley.

A better bet for an H is a smaller Denso alternator found on many Japanese cars. It's about 2/3 the size of a 10SI yet it is wired up the same.

Some Hitachi alternators #14231 were used since they're smaller. They were used on 1975-1980 Nissan trucks. They're sold by NAPA stores for about $50.00 and Napa's p/n is 2138130. Hal

Agreed about this list of vehicles. The Chevette used the same alternator, electrically speaking, but the housing for the Chevette has longer "ears" down to the base swivel bolt. Depending on application, that could be either an advantage-or not.
