power steering flow

I have a 1960 460. It only has 3 point hydraulics controlled by the quadrant slider on the right side of the seat. I want to add some hydraulic controls for a front end loader. I can replace the valve block easily except for the power steering. The power steering is gets its hydraulic supply from the same hydraulics. Does anyone know how much flow is needed by the power steering so I can rig up a flow divider?

Power steering takes about 2.5 gallons per minute.

Be sure to get a PRIORITY flow divider so the power steering always gets flow. You can get them for around $75 at northerntool.com

Unless your tractor is set-up goofy, power-steering uses a dedicated pump piggybacked to the main hydraulic pump. You shouldn't have to divide the flow.

The 460 only has one pump. The 706/806 and newer are the ones with separate pumps for different items.

Keep in mind that you probably have the (I think) something like 12 GPM pump on there most likely and your hydraulics won't set any speed records.

I'm not sure if the 460 is something that can be upgraded to the 17 GPM pump or not...

My 560 has the 2 pumps, one piggybacked to the other. Now you have me thinking if I can get a 17gpm pump. One of the serial# suffixes is for a 12gpm pump, so I have to wonder what other options were available.
