Cub - hydra., trans/rear oil???

Looks I am about to get my first Farmall tomorrow. It is Cub, serial # 219074. Don't know the year, but I do know that it hardly has any fluids in the hydra. system, and the trans/rearend. A little water and milky peanut butter stuff is all. So I know I will have to clean the stuff out and add new fluids.

I will not be able to get an FO manual at the local Tractor Supply Store until almost 2 weeks. So the question is, what type of oil/fluids go in each of the areas AND how much???????.

Steering box is also almost dry.

When I run the tractor, I hear some minor grinding humming noise. Took off the plug next to the gear shift and looked inside with a flashlight and noticed the gear "teeth" tips were bright with no gear oil on them.

Any help or advise will be appreciated. Thanks David.

Go to www.farmallcub.com for capacities. Hytran for the hyd 85w140 for the trans and final drives. JD cornhead lube for the steering.

Cub transmissions are noisy. If it doesn't whine annoyingly, something is wrong.

All gearboxes get gear lube. Whether you use straight SAE90 or 85W140, is irrelevant. It's thick and slippery, and that's all that matters. Get a 2-1/2 gallon jug at WalMart or wherever you like to go. Should be enough to top everything off.

The hydraulic reservoir takes 3-1/2 PINTS (1-1/2 quarts) of CaseIH HyTran or other hydraulic oil that meets HyTran specs (it'll say on the bottle)
