Farmall 460 Gas Questions

1) I was baling hay and inadvertantly coasted down a grade with the torque amplifier pulled back (slow speed) in first gear. Something happened internally and now the torque converter will not "engage". The gears are difficult to shift now and low range in each gear does not exist. The torque converter has worked flawlessly for 25 years with no slipage. Any thoughts to what may have occurred and how to repair it?

2) On the same baling day (tough day for the Farmall), the brake "bolt" that has adjustment threads on it broke in two pieces - thereby rendering the right brake useless. Also, I need new brake disks too. Does anyone have a good source for these parts, or do I need to goto the dealer?

Thanks, Wade

Sounds like the T/A clutch is not releasing. Parts of some have came clear through the housings when overspeeded. If the tractor doesn't stop or slow down with handle back, thats a good indication. You can look at it through the top of housing after plate removal. If its bad tractor will need split.
Lots of aftermarket places have brake shoes, probably this site also. Bolt is actualy a threaded rod with yoke on end, not sure how many places have them.
