Thanks to all with your assistance on my earlier questions on my '51 FC. Some more questions; l. There is a gauge mounted on the hyd control bracket that was hooked to the hyd pump, what was it as the face can't be read and line is cut. 2. Should I add a qt of oil to the 5 qt capacity when changing the filter.

The gage you refer to is a hydraulic oil temprature gage.

My grandad's Super C bought new in 1952 has the same guage, and he said he'd never seen it move, even cultivating.

That's the temp gauge for the hydraulic oil in your Touch Control system. I've warmed it up enough to register while working it without overheating. In life you ought to think about replacing it. It's possible to have a strain on that system if it's out of adjustment that will cause it to overheat and, if you don't recognize the noise the gauge might be the only indication you get thaty something's amiss. Not critical at this point, but worth getting around to sometime.

Don, I saw one of those gauges at Red Power for $50.00. It was still there.
