looking for mechanical linkage to do away with cable any help would be apreciated

The Cable shift is the only stock arrangement. If you want to make a linkage type, and have fabricating skill, the only remark to make is to be sure the new linkage has the same travel as the old cable, and is stout enough to do the job. The linkage type was used on other brands of 9 speed, and is way different. JimN
