Farmall H #30 loader won't stay up

Hi all,
My 1943 Farmall H with IH #30 loader has always worked very well until recently it got a problem where the loader slowly drops or won't stay raised up. I checked all my hoses and don't see any leaks on them or the cylinders. I was thinking maybe the seals in the belly pump are going out or something, but I thought I'd ask first and see what you think might be the problem. If you could help me with this, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks,
Andy.

I have seen the linkage rod and casting allow the valve to stay open just a bit. Try pulling the rod outward just a half inch. if it works, that can fix it. A cylinder bypassing fluid can also do it. If 2 way, the oil just stays in the system. JimN

You may have lost a seal in one of the lifting cyclinders. The #30 stores oil on the other side of the cyclinder so you will not notice any loss of fluid, just a slow sinking of the load.

Thanks Dean, I'll check out those seals in the cylinders when I take off the loader. I'll take off the loader for a couple tractor shows coming up, then put the loader back on the tractor again.

Andy.

I had the same problem with my #31. I rebuilt both cylinders and that cured it. The parts are still available from CNH...cost me about$50 per cylinder and I did it myself in just a couple of hours. It is a messy job, but not too technical.
