Last week I bought a 1948 Cub got a 6 volt Battery new. I have great spark but the engine will not fire. I don't think gas is getting to the cyclenders. I also feel the engine turns over a little slowly, but that may be me and my inexperence. I know I have gas to the carb and it is fresh. I have not cleaned the carb becauce the past owner said he ran the tractor last summer. What do you think. Thanks Steve

Pull the air intake tube off the carb and then turn the engine over with your hand on the air intake of the carb. If it sucks on your hand well then pull it off when the engine tries to fire.

there should be a inlet screen just inside the carb where the fuel line is attached, they get stopped up some times. see if you have a steady fuel stream with the plug removed from the front of the carb bowl.

make sure you have clean battery terminals and heavy cables to the battery, also check the connection on the starter.

Are you the Steve Lambert I know in arizona? Confirm you suspicions by pulling a plug and give it a shot of ether. Screw it in real quick and try to start it. Or gas in warm weather.
