H motor knocking

Just bought an H this week and drove it home without any problem. Put a sickle mower on it today and went to do some mowing and going up a samll hill there was a knock in the engine. When I throttled it down it quit, so I eased it home. It has good oil pressure Do I have a serious problem?

Are you sure that wasn't just detonation (pinging)? A more serious problem won't go away. That will be a rapid higher pitched sound, as opposed to only one knock per revolution if it is a more serious problem. You eliminate the pinging by reducing the load, or shifting down a gear. Your timing may be slightly advanced.

I would pull the pan off and see what is up in there. I have also seen the bolts come loose on my M throw out bearing sleeve and make a noise like that but the clutch pedal did some jumping too.
