W4 Rear Light.... Where does it go?

I bought a new rear light bracket for my W4 from OEM and I can't figure out for the life of me where it's supposed to mount on the fender. I always thought it went on the bottom/back of the fender, but there are no holes that match it anywhere, and the curved shape of the bracket doesn't fit a single curve on the entire fender. Anyone have any ideas?

Mine is mounted in its original location on the bottom-inside of the left fender. See attached photo of my 1949 W4. I have seen pics of them mounted on the top of the fender as well. In fact my fenders have holes drilled on the top but that may have been for other lights at one time.

Thanks, that"s what I thought... I found out that the one listed to fit a W6 is the one I actually need, and they were happy to arrange a return... so all is well.

I did decide to put mine on the right fender in the same location as yours, however, since I think it would get kicked off right away on the left (it seems like just about everyone gets on the tractor from the left).

You have a pretty straight looking W4 there, I"d love to see more pictures if you have any more to post.

Ours was mounted high up on the rear fender, but is now on top of the PTO shield to keep it out of the branches etc. in the woods.

Those lights on a W4 don't last very long when you hook up a pto shaft to a silage wagon and turn too short or jackknife when backing up.

Yeah, I"m finding that they must have come mounted on the bottom of the left hand fender like Cue P."s picture shows, but I ended up mounting mine in the same spot on the right so I wouldn"t kick it off getting on and off the tractor.

Also, I contacted OEM and they were very friendly about the misunderstanding. Turns out that the one listed in their catalog for a W6 is the one that actually fit my W4.
