Hi, I am in the process of switching my power steering unit to another tractor, now it doesnt seem to want to turn to the left, just fine to the right. Does it have to be centered in some way? What do you think? Thanks

Having same problem only opposite. "Veins" in my unit down. Actually ordered Char-Lynn 211-1177 23.8cu.in. unit today!
Have 1960 Int'l 340 Backhoe.
Would work bucket or raise hoe & unit would start leaking around steering wheel, got so bad it started pushing steering wheel out of column.
Good Luck!

the char lynn torque generator has centering springs in it so at the neutral or "center steer position, the hydraulic pressure is at its minimum. be sure the front wheels are in the straight forward position and the generator is located in its center position when assembled, otherwise the pump is trying to center the generator. also be sure there is no binding in the steering shaft from the steering wheel to the generator, it must turn freely. also be sure the lower steering shaft lines up with the output end of the torque generator. the coupling should slide in freely with no binding. the center position can be checked with a pressure gauge, 0-2000 psi, use a 3/8 pipe tee to install it in the line at the torque generator. watch the gauge when you operate the steering wheel, when the gauge reaches its lowest pressure reading, it is at center steer.
