how does that help? does it change it from 12 back to 6 volts? is so why did I have to put a 12 coil on it? sorry I sound so stupid but this is new to me I ordered one of those pointless ignition kits I just wanted to use the tractor now. thanks for the help.

If you put a 12V coil on it, don't worry about the points, they won't care. The reason for the resister mentioned in the previous post was because a 6V coil will fry when it gets the 12 volt shot from the battery. We've got a couple of Case's converted to 12V with Delco right-angle distrubutors salvaged from Farmalls & they work just fine with 12V coils, the points never have given us problems.
