SH had been sitting for 2 weeks. Went to start it saturday and would not start. never does this. Never even fired one time. Gas was OK. Checked points and looked a little burnt. replaced points cond and rotor button. Still would not start. Checked voltage to coil on negative side it was 6V; on positive side, no volatage to the points. Should there be? Just as mysteriously as it failed to start ..it is now running fine.

Your points should be open when checking for voltage at the coil. I would replace the condenser to see if that's the problem. I would take a cotton swab dipped in alcohol and clean those new points too. Hal
