modern front end loader for wide front Super C?

Has anyone adapted a small compact loader onto a wide front Farmall C? Is the pressure compatible? I have the steel, tools and good understanding of how things work. Or is anyone supplying loaders for older tractors? Going to look at a 240 tomorrow with a loader and see how they hook up. Any advice would be great short of spending 10,000 for well used baby tractors. I also have an H but its a single front. Thanks DAN.

In my opinion, a front end loader would be hard on that Super C wide front; your tractor would pay the price. An old timer once told me, "The quickest way to wear a tractor is to put a front end loader on it." That is not as true of more modern tractors....

Call and ask the folk at Westendorf. http://www.loaders.com Those loaders are built in my wife's home town of Onawa, Iowa, on the western edge of Iowa, just off I-29. It's still mostly a family owned and run company. Don't take "no" for an answer. That's what every company says right away. Ask to speak to one of the old-timers. They'll know. Worst case, they'll probably have a loader that you can adapt to the Super C.

The front axle under a SC was made to hold the front end off the ground and to attach two wheels for steering and nothing else. They just weren"t engineered for bearing loads a FEL would introduce. That being said....I know loaders were used....but just remember the trip buckets were small and used mostly for shoveling manure.

As time progressed and FEL"s became a standard on the farm.....the tractors were engineered (beefed up) to handle them. Bigger and bigger buckets meant big heavy axles and power steering a must.

That coupled with the fact that precious few people would invest in a modern loader for 50-60 year old tractor, makes it unlikely you will find a modern loader.

Maybe you can find a vintage loader and add hydraulics to the bucket to get rid of that ancient trip mechanism.

Allied makes loader of all sizes. They do have one that will work on a SC. Don't know how that wide front will hold up but there is loaders that will work on that tractor. They put them on lawn mowers,Cubs, and 140's don't they?

Call Brad Marshall at 1-888-824-0544. He is an Allied dealer, and can tell you all about what you can or can't do, or if they have one for the SC or not. When I picked my last loader up at the warehouse in Clarkville IN they had lots of small loaders. As for hydraulics the joystick control will work right of the SC hydraulics with a bypass block.
