560 intake/exhaust manifold question

Would it be a good idea to have the intake/exhaust manifold assy milled flat before installing new manifolds? Also, is it possible to cut new threads into the exhaust manifold where the pipe screws into? I don't seem to be getting my exhaust pipe screwed in very far. Looks like the threads are rusty and dull? Thanks

I just read my question. Made a mistake. The correct question should be: Should I have intake/exhaust manifolds milled before installing new gaskets to bet adequate seal?

Completely clean the manifold of ALL old gasket material and then lay a straight edge down on it. That will give you an idea of whether it should be milled or not.

Yes, new threads can be cut for the pipe, but finding a pipe tap of that size might be difficult, and they are somewhat pricey, but you might be able to find someone that already has one to do it for you. A plumbing shop perhaps?
