I have place several postings on here in the process of rebuilding my Farmall C. I just want to say thanks to all those that responded. However,I am close to being finished I just need to give the tractor the final coat of paint and then put on decals. Where is the best place to get decals and what is the best type. I started shopping for decals and there is quite a price range. Any input appreciated.

Greg,Years ago we used decals with soapy water and they were easy to put on.These new decals that just stick if put on wrong can mess up a good paint job fast.I have a friend that has a sign shop and she does these all the time.She uses tape to hold the decals straight and in place,so air bubbles and wrinkles are eliminated.Some times I put my tractors on the trailer and let her put my decals on.I get mine from rice equ.

You can call them right up for a catalog or to order. For a C they list only the vinyl-cut decals for the "IH McCormick-Deering Farmall" variation, which would be right if your C was a '47.
If it's '48 or later, they list the "IH McCormick Farmall" set in both mylar and vinyl. LAst year's catalog proced them at $16 and $48 respectively, if that's any help for comparing to others you've found.

The cut-vinyl decals look really good, but the mylar look more original. It depends on what you are after. For the mylar, get a squirt bottle, fill with water and add a drop of dish washing soap. Mist the tractor and apply the decal. Squeegee out the excess water from under the decal, starting in the center. Be sure to work the air bubbles out to the edge. Sometimes you can find a small squeege in the window tint section of an auto parts store. I have never applied the vinyl-cut type. Carter & Gruenewald Co, Inc. (1-866-FARMALL, ask for Ken) has the most accurate chassis decals (warning and caution). Maple-Hunter has the best Farmall and model decals I have seen.
