Bearing race out of wheel hub???

I have a Farmall 300 with the single front wheel. I need to get both bearings races out (cone) of front hub. They are where you can't get a punch in to do it. HOW can I get these two out so I can replace with new races, bearings, and seals ??? Thanks a bunch.

Are you a welder? Wire feed a bead on the face of the race. Burn it in HOT. Let it cool and the race will all but fall out.

Haven't been into one of these, but just about all hub assemblies have a groove that a punch can be put in to drive the races out. Most have 2. Clean all old grease out & check for grooves. Actually, the welder method is #1 choice. If all else fails, blow the race out with a torch.

I agree. I've never seen one that DIDN'T have some way to knock the bearing cup out. Don't know that I agree with the welding method except as a last resort. Those races are usually not that hard to knock out.

The "inside" of the race is typically smaller diameter than the seat, so that it makes a lip. You should be able to take a punchchisel through one side to catch that lip on the back of the race on the other side. Just start tapping and moving the punch to four or five different points around the perimeter of the back of the race, and walk it out, moving your blows to keep it going reasonably straight. It might take what I call "smart blows", NOT wallops, the first time around, but once it starts evenly, it should walk right out. Like most jobs the second one will come out in one-quarter the time of the first, and in this case all the more so because once the first one is out, you most likely (not guaranteed, YMMV) will have more of an opening that will allow you to drive straight down on the second, instead of going in at an angle like you'll probably have to do with the first one.

Just get in there before you start with some kero or gas on a rag and clean off the back side of each one enough that you can distinguish the back of the race from the metal that it bottoms out on, so you'll know that you're tapping directly on the race. Shouldn't be difficult.

"punchchisel" should be PUNCH. Unless you're sure of where you are and where you're goin', you could make a mess with a chisel.

I had a similar one like this last week. I used a Dremel with a small grinding wheel to put a groove in the race then used a chisel to drive it out. The groove should be slightly angled so you can drive it up when hitting the chisel. The race will spin and eventually work out.

No grooves in this one plus the race is below the hub lip, so you can not get a punch to hit any part of the race from the bottom.
