Brought home a free 'H'

A guy 2 weeks ago advertised for a free Farmall "H" on a local internet message board. So I called figuring I"d never get it but why not try. He called and said it"s mine if I want it. I picked it up on Saturday. It is not too bad. I am missing some items. I need Grille, Hood, Starter, Generator,Carb, Distributor,Governor and seat assembly. This is my first International tractor. I have a 1963 Oliver 770, 1952 L-132 truck and 1957 S-122 truck. So I am excited to add the farmall to the stable. Any good places for parts? I live in Indiana and a buddy told me that Linton had a good tractor graveyard. Any other tips or comments are very welcome. Chris

if you arein indiana, try bates corporation in bourbon indiana, they are up west of fort wayne. big i=h salvage yard.

Yep, Linton Equipment should have everything for a H but the sheet metal. (may have some now) Where in IN are you? I'm South of Terre Haute.

Do a Google or Froogle search for Farmall H. If you want to narrow it down a bit, search for Farmall H seat, Farmall H hood, Farmall H carburetor, etc. Pretty much everything you need is available right at your finger tips.

Don't want to burst your bubble...but that t'aint exactly free!

Sounds free to me, if he does not want to fix it up it will bring at least $300 across scales.

And there's a good-size boneyard a mile or so south of Alamo, IN. West central near Crawfordsville. I would look around on EBAY for a while though.

Go for it and enjoy the hell out of your H. All the parts you need are out there. All the advice you may need is right here. Hope you have as much enjoyment as I do. All along the way you'll get negatives, ignore it.Show us a picture. MTF

Oh come on Dave, don't be a Nay Sayer.

Send me a email and I'll send you my phone #. I'll be glad to help you get your H running. My Brother just retired from the Federal Joint a few months ago. ken

Check on EBAY. Watch it for a few weeks theres always parts for H's on there. Usually pretty cheap for some of them too. Actually there was an M&W power governor on there for an H . I think its still on there now.

I've been by there on I 70. Lots of lights on at night and more barbed wire than a bull pen!!

Lucky You! ,,Worleys Salvage at Campbellsburg , In ....... they are on on hi way 60 , Might have what You Need . I have a ph # , If needed.. iwant to tease You and tell ya .. All IHC 's ought to be free !! .., but that would be tailgate tussleing,, Good luck , Jim

Nice to hear you got a H, you will love that tractor when its all fixed up. I've got a H and they are great tractors. Post some pics of yours if possible.
