Hey old friends, havent been here in a while. Still chasing that H three allises later, LOL. I missed whats going on, but stumbled across the post, and thought i should let you guys know george is alive and well on another forum around here, i dont know if hes taking a brake from YT like i did, or what, but you can still find him around if you look.

Hi Lanse, and all others. I ain't had time for any forums much lately. I do still check in now and then though. Far as I know nothing happened to make me stay away. I stay outside most the time during warm weather. Busy working or sitting on the porch watching stuff grow, and listening to the birds just enjoying life.

George: That is the way to live, plant it, then sit on the porch and watch it grow. I've been giving a few vegetables to the neighbors, and have had to break the news, that if this is going to continue we must keep the deer out of the garden. We all know deer stay away from human urine, thus I'm suggsting everyone pee around my garden. Old guy next door suggested this should be an interesting sight. I think back to my days of U pick strawberries, and truck drivers tooting the air horns at female berry pickers with their backsides in the air.

The birds are interesting, we've got quite a variety here, but an eastern screach owl is terrorizing our bird community. The robbins get quite upset with his presence. I can understand this with the number of dead baby robbins I'm finding. I wanted to shoot the damn owl first night he showed up, damn hooting all night. The Mrs. said no, she wanted to study the owl. Well, now that he cleaned out every nest of small birds, he's moved on. Next time I think she'll be content to study a dead owl.

Hugh, we hang sweaty t shirts around in the garden after chopping weeds or something. Then I change them out every time I work a fresh sweat out there. Seems to work very well for deer. Don't do a damn thing for the coons though.

We have lots of screech owls here but never really noticed them bothering the robins much. Then again I may not be paying close attention. Lots of Great Horned and barn owls too.

George, It's good to see you keep in touch. I've been watching it grow too. The Early Girl tomatoes are loaded with green tomatoes. I've been picking sour cherries and the wife is freezing them. I need a scissor platform to reach the top. The tree is in the background. The coffee cans are covering strawberry plants. We need some of that rain that's hit the midwest.

Hi Hal. Those maters are looking good. Mine aren't very big yet. I planted them late as to be able to can them hopefully when iy isn't so hot! All I planted early was taters, onions, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and so on. I am even still planning to plant some more maters, cabbage, broccoli, late beans, and cucumbers.

I hope to can a bunch of stuff for the upcoming depression. Hehehe! Soon as I get time I will load up a few pics of things here. Got the best crop of corn growing I have had in years. Hay was top notch too. Tobacco is looking very good as well.

George: The screach owl hung around the neighborhood about a week. We have a lot of cedar hedges, big walnut and maple trees in the area. Also very large numbers of robbins, and I'll say one thing they are feisty little birds. The owl would be perched in a tree, and the robbins would dive on him, even to the point of making physical contact. While the owl was around there was no letup, and they made a lot of noise doing it. I've seen them start chirping up while the owl was still at the neighbors. I had never seen robbins this feisty before.

Hi, George! Good to hear from you. I've been missing your posts. mike (city-boy mccoy), now: Red Mist

We will can tomatoes too and she will make pickles if the cucumbers bare well. I didn't plant any spuds this year, but I may have some anyway since some volunteers are up nice. My wife has this Topsy Turvy Tree tomato planter with tomatoes, green peppers and a cucumber plant.

Someone that doesn't have much room can grow a lot veggies on one of these. I had leaf lettuce
and spinach, but its about over do to the hot weather. Cabbage is getting big too. Hal

Hi Mike. I knew you changed your handle to Red Mist. Never really knew why. I haven't been away that long. I replied to that other post you started as well. Hot here tonight.
