Hey guys, I got a wierd one here for you. I have a 60 Landpride finish mower that I would like to put on the back of my Farmall 100. I want to mount it so that it basically trails behind, not worried about lifting it. Any ideas???

Well, actually, whether you want to lift it or not, it might be easier to just buy (or make) a 3-point hitch for your tractor and mount it that way. Does the finish mower you're referring to already have a 3-point attachment on it? mike

A Brock: You don't seem too free with particulars. Most finish mowers I've seen have 4 castering gauge wheels, thus the only way to make it trail would be install a 3 point hitch. I suppose you could lock two of those caster wheels then just use a hitch tongue like a wagon.

Give us the particulars; Hugh and I are trying to help you, but we need more information!!! Geez-O Beez-O! mike

I pulled a 3. mower with a BN. I made a hitch out of angle iron. I bolted a piece of iron to the bottom of the draw bar. from that I drop down two legs the same distence apart as the hitch points on the mower. then puy two picees from their to the mower. then i weiled two pieces in to from a X. when you turn the mower would swing as if it were a 3.
the mower will need to have to have 4 caster wheels on it to work. Bill

Sorry guys, Yes it does have 4 adjustable casters and it is 3 point hitch. I was thinking of just welding up a mount to use the two lower arms on the mower attached to the drawbar on the 100. The 100 has a single point fast hitch but is off right now.

Adam: I think your idea would work. However, I can foresee two potential problems, to wit: 1) If the front edge of your mower ever hung up on a small stump or something, it could flip the mower and hit you in the back of the head or something - since there would be no top link to stop it from flipping up; 2) Mowers - even finish mowers - seem to have a lot of flat tires. You would want to have your tires foam filled, or make sure you have solid tires that can't puncture, since you would be totally dependent upon your four tires to keep the mower level and at desired height.
I still feel a better idea would be to purchase a 3-point hitch conversion kit from Worksaver, or better yet, get Hugh MacKay here on the forum to sell you a set of his plans to build the ultimate 3-point hitch for your tractor. Best of luck. mike
