Currently it is a manual in and out screw. I just vought a bale fork and for it to really work well I want to put a hydraulic cylinder for the toplink so I can have total tilt control as well as lift. I will go get some pictures of the current setup..
Anyone have any pictures of this kind of arrangement on their tractors?

Here are the pictures of the current set-up. If the toplink was fixed in one spot it might work but as is it won't.

The simple answer is to take out the top link you have.
Position the fork level, with the hitch about 18" or so off the ground.
Measure the center to center distance needed for a new top link. Purchase a 2.5" double acting cylinder that is that long when 1/2 the way out. This will allow the fork yo tilt both up and down. Make sure the clevis n each end is compatible with the holes. JimN

If you go to tractorbynet.com, there are ads for this, as a "top n tilt" system. You will need a remote, and a valve to control it. It's gonna cost some $$.

Guess I don't understand why you want a hydraulic center link?

Especially, when they work so darned slick without it.

Allen,

Picture a landscape not quite so flat. For example, driving through a stream crossing, as the front tires hit the far bank, I've left a bale behind in the stream, making me wish for a hydraulic top link. I lost one in another dip once and it rolled off down into a gully. Good thing the cows have 4wd. Now I loop a chain around the back when I go through those places.

I see that you have a 450 fast hitch. The 400 hitch has a cylinder up front that lowers front of hitch so you could angle your spear upwards. Hyd top link is your answer with this hitch.

What I am looking for is someone who can show me what they have so I can get idea's on how to mount it. What type cylinder and connections, etc.. I am new to it. I didnt know it was a hitch from a 450. The biggest question is can the hyd toplink attach to the tractor like the manual one. Shouldn't there be something to hold it besides a piece of wire?

Wallace,

I just had to chuckle when you implied that NE is flatter than KS!

I believe if you get the proper length upper link, that your setup will work well.
That being said, Just a simple rod-end Hyd. Cylinder is all you would need (Along with the hyd. Hoses).
You already have the remote ports on the tractor for this.

As another person suggested, Top n Tilt is a great unit.

Have one I bought at farm store. Been very handy. I sometimes load had on trailer with 3 point forks and helps in loading it on tailer.
