JD bale monitor on 1066

Going to put the monitor in the tractor and hook up for first time this evening. It takes 12V. My 1066 is original on battery setup with two 6V under the floorboard. Want to do it right so just exactly where should I plumb in to the 12V. Don't want to fry anything!

I grab the voltage at the cab relay.

That way, ya kill it with the switch and the monitor isn't always "powered up".

Should have added if you want to go directly to the battery hook to the positive post that is connected to the starter for your 12 volts. And ground to the frame or the negitive post on the opposite battery.

It lives "in behind" (inboard of) the right battery.

A bit of a stinker to get to, but I just like the fact that you can kill the power with the key switch.

You could just grab off the positive post on the LEFT battery, but it would be hot all the time tho.

The two 6V batteries are connected in series to make 12V.

If you wanted to hook it direct to the battery, connect the hot wire to the + terminal on the battery whose cable runs directly to the solenoid. Put a fuse in there, though.

I'd worry about overloading the cab relay with too many accessories...
