f-20 Mag

I recently bought a 39 f-20. It has a Fairbanks Morse type F.M. mag on it. I am pretty sure it is not original equipment. That is o.k. The problem is it does not have any spark. I cleaned the points. Is this mag supposed to work with my f-20? Up until now I have never owned a tractor with a mag on it.

Can get you part. Most old mags I have had to put a new coil in and then they are fine.
I do have 3 old Regulars I pulled in for parts.
I was told that it was an option for the dealer. I think some parts of the country if you where in areas that were damp the IH mags did not like to work good. Oldiron29

You should check the magnets for magnetism using a flatblade screwdriver. It should attract that screwdriver with some effort. This is what creates your hot spark when they pass by the coil.

Get the coil and condenser tested. Chances are the condenser is bad.
