IH 756 How good are they, decent price?

Guys, I have to admit I am a green man at heart. But need some cheap horsepower. I have found a decent 756 gas. What can you tell me about them, dependable ect? I am looking for a strong 4 bottom tractor capable of a 13' disk in sandy ground. Will I be happy with a 756 or do I need bigger? Thanks Joe

A Farmall is a Farmall is a Farmall. They are all good; don't think IH ever built a bad tractor.

HOWEVER, the gasser is gonna have you cussin' yer Mama running back and forth to the fuel barrel tho. They are thirsty! :>(

We have a 756D. My dad bought it 15 years ago to replace our 706 gas. We pull a 13 foot IH disk with it we put duals on it and it pulls it decent not going to win many races. Usually Low range 4th gear maybe HI 1 but then you might have to pull the TA more often. We have fliud in the tires too so it weighs almost 11,000 lbs. We have pulled our IH 720 4-18 moldboard plow but it struggles. I think a 4-16 would work better. Overall they are a nifty tractor to have nice to small square bale with. I think that a gasser will be expensive to run with the price of gas. Our diesel is pretty good on fuel.

We used to pull 4-14s with the 756, but it was two trips to the gas tank every day you worked it. Once first thing in the morning, and again mid afternoon.

A 756 gas makes a nice chore/loader tractor for when you need cold weather dependability, and it doesn't mind being worked occasionally. However, you'll go broke with gas prices today if you plan on working it.
