I"m looking for an aftermarket 3-point hitch for my "43 H. Also, I want to mount a cross cut saw to the front...ideas were to look and does anyone have history with a front-mount saw? Does it lift so you can move the tractor or must it be taken off everytime?

Thanks,Dan

I think most people consider Saginaw the standard for aftermarket 3 point hitches. Worksaver is a cheaper option. I remember we had a belt driven saw when I was a wee tyke, many, many moons ago. I believe it set on a stand and was not mounted. I'm sure with some modifications you could mount one like that. Hopefully others have some more recent experience.

When I was a youth, much wood was sawed using a cordwood saw mounted on the front of an MD. It would fit an H also I am sure. The saw was designed to fold up against the front of the tractor for transport. It had support legs for the front of the saw and the rear was supported on the tractor. I don't recall the details of how all that worked or if the saw was of IH design or not. I was never permitted to run the saw, only to carry limbs to it, as my Dad considered running the saw too dangerous for me.

I have a front mounted saw for my H. It was a comunity saw for years, owned by several farmers. As these farmers converted to oil or gas heat my dad bought out their shares in the saw till he owned it. It is home made from the front half of a Model A ford car frame. Basically channel iron with 2 support legs and a arbor mounted crossways. There are 2 3/8" thick flat irons bolted to the front bolster, they stick out about 6 inches. A 3/4" rod goes through the frame of the saw and the tabs on the H. Then the flat belt goes on both pulleys. This rig does not fold up on the tractor it can be lifted by someone and moved forward slowly. The shoes on the bottom of the support legs are curved so I can back up with out assistance.

CGtractor...I"m very interested. I live near a large sawmill that sells the slab cheap. I"m told that it"s easier to cut each piece and not try and chainsaw deep into the bundle. I love my H and want to use it for more than hay-rides. I"m in Stillwater,MN. What do you think it would take to get your saw for my H? Thanks to all who responded also! Dan

FYI, Seems my computer doesn't like my password...ie...I forgot it so I'm now dansH and not dan160

I have a Saginaw hitch on my 48 H. Best money I ever spent. I think it is a better design, and better made, than a lot of oem hitches.

Dan: When I was a young lad, one of my neighbors had a front mounted circular bench saw on his Super M and it was driven off the belt pulley. It was designed so he sould drive up to the pile of wood, engage the belt pulley and go to work. His bench table was on rollers. The arbor had a flywheel. It was quite heavy, really wouldn't want to do much hauling or field work with saw mounted.

It was purchased arbor, saw, bearings, flywheel and rollers for bench. The rest of it was his own fabrication. If one had enough help, that machine would manufacture firewood in a hurry. I can remember him with 8-9 men in his crew.

did u get my message? I would like to have your buz-saw for my H...What will it take? Thanks again,Dan
